A new breakfast restaurant is coming, another is going
We have two restaurant updates in Jamaica Plain. We’re going to have a new one in a beloved location in Hyde Square, and another restaurant that has closed due to COVID has announced it won’t reopen.
Mike & Patty’s popular breakfast and sandwich restaurant has applied for a license to open at 388 Center St., which once housed the beloved Sorella’s restaurant until it closed in 2019. News has been reported for the first time by Boston Restaurant Talk.
This will be Mike & Patty’s first restaurant, according to Eater Boston, as its Bay Village and Somerville locations are takeout only. The restaurant could open later this year or early 2022. The menu is expected to be bigger and they are applying for a liquor license to serve cocktails.
Their current menus include items like Carolina Caviar (the caviar isn’t actually there), Grilled Crack, Baller, and more.
And unfortunately, Exodus Bagels have announced that they will not be reopening their very popular Jamaica Plain location at the corner of Washington and Green streets. It was common to see a queue at the door as people waited for their delicious sandwiches.
“There were a few factors out of our control that ultimately made the decision for us. Most of the factors are related to the condition of the building. The repairs needed to make it a safe and healthy place are beyond a tenant’s reach. an Exodus Bagels Facebook post said.
Exodus will continue to operate its kitchen in Roslindale, which has a window with no elevator. Definitely worth the detour.
