Tuetano Taqueria chef Priscilla Curiel opens Mexican seafood restaurant in Old Town urban market

After transplanting her much-admired birria spot in her all-new digs inside the Old Town’s Urban Market, Tuetano Taqueria founder Priscilla Curiel now presents her version of Mexican seafood at Mar Rustico, the second restaurant to open in catering and retail still developing. collective. Operating from a walk-in counter next to the venue’s bar, its dishes complement the meat-focused selections of Tuetano.

Serving mostly raw and dried seafood to start, from classic mariscos to more creative catches, the menu includes a traditional fish and shrimp ceviche, aguachile verde shrimp, raw oysters and amberjack dressed in a ponzu sauce. . Supported in the kitchen by Chef Ruben Comparan (Juniper & Ivy, Tahona) and her husband Fernando who runs the house, Curiel plans to expand Mar Rustico’s offerings to include fish tacos, burritos and more next month. Other tenants in the Old Town Market, including Por Vida Coffee and Barrio Donas, are expected to be operational by January.
